About Me

Martin Robinson
Paramedic/Tutor

I began my Ambulance Service career in 1987 in the West Midlands and quickly progressed to Emergency Service work in the front line of the NHS.

In 1993 I qualified as a Paramedic and shortly afterwards moved to Somerset with the Westcountry Ambulance Service, now South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.

I have enjoyed various roles within the Ambulance Service such as the HEMS helicopter, Station Officer (CSO) and Learning and Development Officer. Throughout my career I have always enjoyed teaching and especially teaching the public Basic Life Support and did this through an initiative called SWELLS.

Quite early on in my career I had an interest in training the public life saving skills. I had the chance to experienced teaching after taking an Ambulance Service course followed by a Diploma in Education & Training which enabled me to teach in house courses.

For the last few years I have been teaching as a Learning and Development Officer within the Ambulance Service which involves teaching all grades of staff the skills they require in the front line of the Service.

I believe that first aid education is the key to improving survival rates in the UK.
